Measuring Guide for Compression Stockings

Measuring your legs for compression stockings, support socks, support hose, and gradient compression hosiery:.

  • For knee-highs: measure around your ankle and calf. Then, measure the distance from the floor to the back of your knee.
  • For thigh-high and pantyhose: measure around your ankle, calf, and upper thigh. Then, measure the distance from the floor to your upper thigh (bottom of your buttocks).

An Important Measuring Tip...
If swelling is an issue with you, measure your legs, first thing in the morning, after you get out of bed. This is when swelling is at a minimum, and the size of your legs should remain once the swelling is eliminated. Each of our compression products has a sizing chart on the product page.

Measure around the ankle at the narrowest point, generally above the ankle bone.
Measure around the calf muscle at the widest part.
Measure from the floor to the bend behind the knee.
Measure around the thigh approx. 3" below the gluteal fold (crease of buttocks).
Measure the distance from the bottom of your buttocks to the floor.

Sizes may differ between various brands of support stockings. Keep in mind that each manufacturer of support hose has their own sizing chart. A medium size in one brand of circulation stockings, may not be a medium in another. Some brands of compression stockings offer petite (shorter) lengths, while others do not. Knowing your measurements will ensure you get compression hosiery that fits properly and comfortably.

The most affordable, best-performing compression stockings around!

For someone on a budget, I've found these support stockings to be the best solution.

If you're not looking to spend a whole lot of circulation stockings, these might be for you. I've found that they work just as well as the full-priced series.

It seems like Jobst has a way of filling every little niche, and they've definitely done that with the relief economy - affordable, yet highly effective.

These are great because they offer durable compression support at 1/3 the price of other Jobst Medical Legwear. I only buy Jobst because they fit me best and last a long time. I will continue to buy Jobst for the rest of my life because I trust it. I tried the other brands and was not satisfied.

I think these are of a slightly lesser quality than the other Jobst series, but for the price, you really can't beat them.

I seem to be the only one who doesn't like these stockings. I find them to be incredibly tight. I measured my legs properly, as I have used compression stockings for some time. I fit in the category of two sizes. I was near the top of the sizing range for one size, and at the lower end of the parameters for the next larger size. So, I selected the larger size, for comfort and because I don't have really bad edema issues. If anything, I was afraid these would be too loose. They are horrible. They cut into the top portion of my leg, just below the knee, and squeeze my ankles, leaving deep marks. I can't image that anyone measuring at the top of the size range would even be able to get these on. I will never order these again. I've always used a generic brand from another website, and thought I would be pleased with the Jobst brand. I'm going back to the generic stockings.

I got my first pair of this item and it was great. Comfortable and it very well right from the beginning, so I ordered 3 more pair. All of those were much shorter and I could not wear them. My complaint is not with Jobst; it is with I tried to explain the problem to their customer service department and all they said was that the first pair was stretched out!!! There was no way that it was THAT stretched out. My problem with is that they would not do anything to hold Jobst accountable for quality control. I believe that the last 3 pair were actually petite size in the wrong boxes. I am currently looking for someone who could use a petite extra large. If they would pay postage I would gladly send them 3 pair of Jobst item #114623.
