Measuring Guide for Compression Stockings

Measuring your legs for compression stockings, support socks, support hose, and gradient compression hosiery:.

  • For knee-highs: measure around your ankle and calf. Then, measure the distance from the floor to the back of your knee.
  • For thigh-high and pantyhose: measure around your ankle, calf, and upper thigh. Then, measure the distance from the floor to your upper thigh (bottom of your buttocks).

An Important Measuring Tip...
If swelling is an issue with you, measure your legs, first thing in the morning, after you get out of bed. This is when swelling is at a minimum, and the size of your legs should remain once the swelling is eliminated. Each of our compression products has a sizing chart on the product page.

Measure around the ankle at the narrowest point, generally above the ankle bone.
Measure around the calf muscle at the widest part.
Measure from the floor to the bend behind the knee.
Measure around the thigh approx. 3" below the gluteal fold (crease of buttocks).
Measure the distance from the bottom of your buttocks to the floor.

Sizes may differ between various brands of support stockings. Keep in mind that each manufacturer of support hose has their own sizing chart. A medium size in one brand of circulation stockings, may not be a medium in another. Some brands of compression stockings offer petite (shorter) lengths, while others do not. Knowing your measurements will ensure you get compression hosiery that fits properly and comfortably.

I have diabetes and my doctor recommended that I try these socks out. They've done wonders for my swelling.

I've been wearing these for years, and I can't think what my life with diabetes would be like without them! They energize my legs and make me feel younger.

Comfortable, relaxing, and I can even where them while being really physically active. For the price, these socks work wonders, and nobody can even tell that I'm treating my diabetes.

My husband has dealing with foot ulcers for some time now, and these socks definitely make things more comfortable for him. I don't even have foot ulcers, but I wear them too. They're great!

All of the socks I own are Sensifoot. I've had diabetes forever, and there was a long time where I couldn't find any socks that we're extremely restricting and painful to wear. I my search was definitely over when I found these though. It's a very simple product, but I just can't believe how well they work.

These socks are quite thick and bulky. My feet are sensitive and the bottom of theses socks is a terry cloth like material and I felt like they had sandpaper lining. Luckily since they are unisex my husband could use them. The return policy is too much trouble. I did not like these socks at all.
