Measuring Guide for Compression Stockings

Measuring your legs for compression stockings, support socks, support hose, and gradient compression hosiery:.

  • For knee-highs: measure around your ankle and calf. Then, measure the distance from the floor to the back of your knee.
  • For thigh-high and pantyhose: measure around your ankle, calf, and upper thigh. Then, measure the distance from the floor to your upper thigh (bottom of your buttocks).

An Important Measuring Tip...
If swelling is an issue with you, measure your legs, first thing in the morning, after you get out of bed. This is when swelling is at a minimum, and the size of your legs should remain once the swelling is eliminated. Each of our compression products has a sizing chart on the product page.

Measure around the ankle at the narrowest point, generally above the ankle bone.
Measure around the calf muscle at the widest part.
Measure from the floor to the bend behind the knee.
Measure around the thigh approx. 3" below the gluteal fold (crease of buttocks).
Measure the distance from the bottom of your buttocks to the floor.

Sizes may differ between various brands of support stockings. Keep in mind that each manufacturer of support hose has their own sizing chart. A medium size in one brand of circulation stockings, may not be a medium in another. Some brands of compression stockings offer petite (shorter) lengths, while others do not. Knowing your measurements will ensure you get compression hosiery that fits properly and comfortably.

I wear these to the office practically everyday and nobody is the wiser that I have circulation issues. I'm sure they're just thinking, "hey, what flashy socks."

My husband loves these! He says they're comfortable, they seem to be doing wonders for his swelling legs, and I think they look great too!

I'm a marathon runner in my 60's, and I'm constantly dealing with often severe leg swelling. There are many brands of athletic compression socks out there, but as far as I'm concerned, these is the best. I've tried them all, and these is defintiely my number one solution for this sort of thing.

For the longest time, I was looking for some athletic socks that would give my legs the support I needed - these turned out to be them, and I haven't gone with any other brand or line since first putting them on. Thanks for helping me maintain my active lifestyle!

Easy to wear, light weight, and best of all, great for my circulation.

Great socks at a great price. The support is just right. I had femoral artery by-pass surgery last year and have been looking for support socks to help with my new found circulation, and to keep the circulation going on long drives. Tried lots of brands, but these are just right. I'll be ordering more and I will recommend them to my friends and family.

They are comfortable, however I purchased the large knee high and they were too long for my 19" long lower leg by a few inches because my legs a a bit skinny due to my neuropathy. This causes me to have to fold them down so they do not go over my knees.
