Measuring Guide for Compression Stockings

Measuring your legs for compression stockings, support socks, support hose, and gradient compression hosiery:.

  • For knee-highs: measure around your ankle and calf. Then, measure the distance from the floor to the back of your knee.
  • For thigh-high and pantyhose: measure around your ankle, calf, and upper thigh. Then, measure the distance from the floor to your upper thigh (bottom of your buttocks).

An Important Measuring Tip...
If swelling is an issue with you, measure your legs, first thing in the morning, after you get out of bed. This is when swelling is at a minimum, and the size of your legs should remain once the swelling is eliminated. Each of our compression products has a sizing chart on the product page.

Measure around the ankle at the narrowest point, generally above the ankle bone.
Measure around the calf muscle at the widest part.
Measure from the floor to the bend behind the knee.
Measure around the thigh approx. 3" below the gluteal fold (crease of buttocks).
Measure the distance from the bottom of your buttocks to the floor.

Sizes may differ between various brands of support stockings. Keep in mind that each manufacturer of support hose has their own sizing chart. A medium size in one brand of circulation stockings, may not be a medium in another. Some brands of compression stockings offer petite (shorter) lengths, while others do not. Knowing your measurements will ensure you get compression hosiery that fits properly and comfortably.

So, as of late, I've been on a tight budget, and I ended up purchasing some support stockings from the Sigvaris discount section sort of assuming that quality would be slightly compromised, but it wasn't at all. I'm not sure why everyone else isn't going for the discounted stockings. They provide the same quality and support that I was looking for.

These Sigvaris compression stockings are definitely the way to go. They have a variety to choose from, and they basically turn out to offer the exact same support as the traditional stockings!

I choose some travel socks from the discounted section, and after numerous wears, I've definitely noticed that my legs don't get worn out. Great product.

Great quality, great look, great price - I was skeptical at first with the low price, but the quality is not at all any less.

I've tried Jobst athetlic socks, and although they're good, I definitely prefer the Sigvaris 15-20 recovery socks. I'm a runner and my legs don't get as tired with these. I really do recover faster, it's awesome!

My wife is a diabetic and I'm a really active athlete, so I guess it's only natural that we'd gravitate toward this section, we both found what we were looking for and we're eternally greatful to the good designers at Sigvaris!

I wear the compression leg sleeves whenever I go on a run. Seriously, go to Sigvaris if you want a great athletic sock.
