Measuring Guide for Compression Stockings

Measuring your legs for compression stockings, support socks, support hose, and gradient compression hosiery:.

  • For knee-highs: measure around your ankle and calf. Then, measure the distance from the floor to the back of your knee.
  • For thigh-high and pantyhose: measure around your ankle, calf, and upper thigh. Then, measure the distance from the floor to your upper thigh (bottom of your buttocks).

An Important Measuring Tip...
If swelling is an issue with you, measure your legs, first thing in the morning, after you get out of bed. This is when swelling is at a minimum, and the size of your legs should remain once the swelling is eliminated. Each of our compression products has a sizing chart on the product page.

Measure around the ankle at the narrowest point, generally above the ankle bone.
Measure around the calf muscle at the widest part.
Measure from the floor to the bend behind the knee.
Measure around the thigh approx. 3" below the gluteal fold (crease of buttocks).
Measure the distance from the bottom of your buttocks to the floor.

Sizes may differ between various brands of support stockings. Keep in mind that each manufacturer of support hose has their own sizing chart. A medium size in one brand of circulation stockings, may not be a medium in another. Some brands of compression stockings offer petite (shorter) lengths, while others do not. Knowing your measurements will ensure you get compression hosiery that fits properly and comfortably.

I have both pairs of this line, casual and dress. They both work equally well, and are perfect for both specific settings.

I am a long time suffering of deep vein thrombosis, and as it continued to get worse, I realized that I had to change the type of socks I was wearing. I searched high and low for the right kind, and then I came across this line - a line that offers dress and casual. I couldn't be happier!

Whatever the occasion, these Truform socks will get the job done, as far as your leg problems are concerned. They've really worked wonders for me.

I thought I'd feel weird wearing thigh high support stockings for men, but nobody can tell that they're thigh highs. I think I was just being a little too self concious. Anyway, they work great, and I'm going to continue wearing them.

This line makes my husband not be unashamed of his leg conditions. They work wonderfully!

I play basketball 3 times a week, and in my old age, I needed something that was going to give me the support I needed for my circulation issues. The 15-20 knee highs have been a life saver, and helped me get back to the active lifestyle I desired.

They are simple in design, but I can't tell you how good they are for my diabetes. I love them!

At 71, I have the desire to stay physically active, and I'm proud to say that I've chosen these support socks to help me do that. I wouldn't wear anything else.
