Second Skin Sheer Knee High 30-40 mmHg — Extra Firm Below-Knee Support

Second Skin Sheer knee highs deliver 30-40 mmHg extra firm graduated compression from ankle to below the knee, held in place by a soft, non-constricting stay-up top. A fashionable sheer knit that wears like everyday hosiery rather than a medical garment. Available in Small to X-Large. This sits in the extra firm compression class, indicated for advanced varicose veins, heavy or lymphatic swelling, chronic venous insufficiency (cvi), preventing and managing venous ulcers.

  • 30-40 mmHg Extra Firm Gradient: Graduated pressure greatest at the ankle, decreasing along the limb.
  • Fabric: A fashionable sheer knit that wears like everyday hosiery rather than a medical garment.
  • Soft Top: A soft, non-constricting stay-up top.
  • Closed Toe: Roomy, reinforced toe box designed not to compress the toes.
  • Latex Free: Contains no natural rubber latex.
  • For Advanced Varicose Disease: Holds distended veins at the pressure class indicated when varicosities are advanced.
  • Controls Heavy Swelling: Limits fluid across the whole lower limb, including above the knee.
  • Containment for Lymphoedema: Delivers the sustained containment pressure lower-limb lymphoedema needs.
  • Addresses CVI: Works against venous reflux and the aching, heaviness and skin changes it brings.
  • Covers the Whole Foot: Keeps the toes warm and pressure consistent across the foot.
  • Below-Knee Coverage: Pressure is concentrated over the calf and ankle, where lower-limb fluid gathers first.
  • Advanced varicose veins
  • Heavy or lymphatic swelling
  • Chronic venous insufficiency (CVI)
  • Preventing and managing venous ulcers
  • Swelling that stops below the knee
  • Varicose veins in the calf and ankle

The numbers are the pressure at the ankle in millimetres of mercury, decreasing along the limb. 30-40 mmHg is the extra firm class, indicated for advanced varicose veins, heavy or lymphatic swelling, chronic venous insufficiency (cvi), preventing and managing venous ulcers. Our compression therapy guide explains each level.

Compression sizing isn't standardised across brands — a Medium in one brand is often not a Medium in another, so go by your measurements rather than the size you wore last. Measure first thing in the morning before swelling builds, against bare skin with the tape snug but not constricting, then match the result to the chart on this page. Our measuring guide walks through each measurement.

Turn the garment inside out to the heel, work the foot in first, then roll it up the limb in stages rather than pulling from the top, which stretches the band. Rubber gloves or a donning aid make it easier. Full instructions are in our guide to putting on compression stockings.

Wash after each wear in cool or lukewarm water with a gentle solution — never fabric softener or bleach — and air dry away from direct heat. Most people rotate two pairs so a clean, dry pair is always ready. Full instructions and washing solutions are in our care guide.
