Sigvaris Essential Opaque Unisex Open Toe Knee High 30-40 mmHg delivers Extra Firm Compression for lower-leg containment, featuring easy-to-don everyday support in Sigvaris' widest size range with open-toe flexibility
Designed for an everyday, easy-to-don opaque stocking, the Sigvaris Essential Opaque Knee High stocking, often just called a compression sock, provides 30-40 mmHg of graduated compression in an open toe style, in a unisex fit. Part of Sigvaris' Opaque line, it's made with double-covered spandex yarns in Sigvaris' largest range of sizes, designed for easy donning even for wearers with arthritis or limited hand strength. It offers a reliable option for wearers managing venous edema, phlebolymphedema, or early-stage lymphedema who need an everyday opaque stocking. Sigvaris has been 100% family-owned since its founding in Switzerland in 1864, a heritage that continues to guide its commitment to medical-grade compression quality.

Measuring Guide for Sizing of Compression Stockings
Measuring Guide
How to measure your legs for compression stockings, support socks, support hose, and gradient compression hosiery.
Where to Measure
- For knee-highs: measure around your ankle and calf. Then measure the distance from the floor to the back of your knee.
- For thigh-highs and pantyhose: measure around your ankle, calf, and upper thigh. Then measure the distance from the floor to your upper thigh (bottom of your buttocks).
An important measuring tip: take your measurements with a tape measure, as shown below. Sizing charts are located on every product’s “see details” page for your convenience. If you need further assistance, please call 1-800-504-7315 or Live Chat with us.
How to Properly Measure and Apply Compression Stockings
The Key Measurements

Ankle
Measure around the ankle at the narrowest point, generally above the ankle bone.

Calf
Measure around the calf muscle at the widest part.

Length
Measure from the floor to the bend behind the knee.

Thigh
Measure around the thigh approximately 3 inches below the gluteal fold (crease of the buttocks).

Thigh Length
Measure the distance from the bottom of your buttocks to the floor.
Sizes may differ between various brands of support stockings—each manufacturer has their own sizing chart. A medium in one brand may not be a medium in another, and some brands offer petite (shorter) lengths while others do not. Knowing your measurements will ensure you get compression hosiery that fits properly and comfortably. Sizing charts are located on every product’s “see details” page.
