Where to Measure
- For knee-highs: measure around your ankle and calf. Then measure the distance from the floor to the back of your knee.
- For thigh-highs and pantyhose: measure around your ankle, calf, and upper thigh. Then measure the distance from the floor to your upper thigh (bottom of your buttocks).

How to Properly Measure and Apply Compression Stockings
The Key Measurements
Ankle
Measure around the ankle at the narrowest point, generally above the ankle bone.
Calf
Measure around the calf muscle at the widest part.
Length
Measure from the floor to the bend behind the knee.
Thigh
Measure around the thigh approximately 3 inches below the gluteal fold (crease of the buttocks).
Thigh Length
Measure the distance from the bottom of your buttocks to the floor.
Sizes may differ between various brands of support stockings—each manufacturer has their own sizing chart. A medium in one brand may not be a medium in another, and some brands offer petite (shorter) lengths while others do not. "I was disappointed when I was no longer able to purchase the Jobst Ultrasheer stockings that I'd been wearing for years, and because I was forced to switch, I tried several styles from Jobst, Sigvaris, and Juzo. These stockings were the most comfortable hands down. The silicone band is tight when the stockings are brand new, but not terribly so, and the band does relent with a few wearings--and it never, ever rolls, which was a problem with the Jobst stockings. Not only are these stockings more comfortable than the Jobsts, they also control my lower-leg/ankle swelling much better. I'm glad I was forced to discover them!"
