Truform Anti-Embolism Knee High, Open Toe 18 mmHg — Below-Knee Support with a Soft Stay-Up Top

Truform Anti-Embolism open toe knee highs deliver 18 mmHg anti-embolism graduated compression from ankle to below the knee, held in place by a soft, non-constricting stay-up top. The soft smooth knit is built for continuous wear during recovery, and beige and black options look less clinical during early ambulation. The open toe allows easy toe inspection and lets one size fit a range of foot dimensions. This sits in Truform's anti-embolism compression class, indicated for the prevention of thromboembolism in the reclining or bed-confined patient.

  • 18 mmHg Anti-Embolism Gradient: Truform measures the pressure gradient at four points along the below-knee length to check its distribution.
  • Designed for Home Convalescence: Beige and black options give a less clinical appearance during early ambulation.
  • Comfortable Soft Top: A soft, non-constricting stay-up band designed for all-day comfort.
  • Open Toe Design: Allows easy toe inspection and lets one size fit a range of foot dimensions.
  • Regular and Short Lengths: Two length options based on a heel-to-knee measurement of more or less than 15 inches.
  • Latex Free: Contains no natural rubber latex.
  • Helps Reduce Thromboembolic Risk: 18 mmHg targeted at the ankle helps counter venous stasis during immobility.
  • Supports Home Convalescence: Designed for the reclining or bed-confined patient recovering at home.
  • Aids Post-Surgical Recovery: Suited to the post-surgical patient during the early recovery period.
  • Maintains Venous Return: Graduated pressure keeps blood moving when the calf muscle pump is inactive.
  • Comfortable for Extended Wear: A non-constricting top allows continuous day-and-night use during recovery.
  • Less Clinical in Appearance: Beige and black options suit early ambulation outside the ward.
  • Prevention of thromboembolism
  • Reclining or bed-confined home convalescence
  • Post-surgical recovery at home
  • Reduced mobility during recuperation
  • Early ambulation after surgery
  • Caregiver-assisted toe inspection (open toe)

A unisex open toe knee-high stocking from Truform's Anti-Embolism range, knit in a soft smooth knit, finished with soft stay-up top. It delivers 18 mmHg anti-embolism graduated compression. It is intended for patients recovering at home with reduced mobility, not for everyday ambulatory wear. Browse the full Truform range.

The numbers are the pressure at the ankle, measured in millimetres of mercury, decreasing as the garment moves up the limb. Anti-embolism stockings are a different category from daily compression. They deliver 18 mmHg targeted at the ankle and are intended for the reclining or bed-confined patient, to help reduce the danger of thromboembolic disease. They are not designed for ambulatory daily wear — for that you want a graduated daily stocking instead. If you're unsure which level applies, our compression therapy guide explains each one, or see our DVT.

Compression sizing isn't standardised across brands — a Medium in one brand is often not a Medium in another, so go by your measurements rather than the size you wore last. Measure your ankle at its narrowest point and your calf at its widest, first thing in the morning before swelling builds, against bare skin with your foot flat and the tape snug but not constricting. If your swelling has changed, or you've gained or lost weight, or you're recovering from surgery, re-measure rather than reordering your previous size. Our measuring guide walks through each measurement.

Turn the stocking inside out to the heel, work your foot in first, then roll it up the leg in stages rather than pulling from the top — pulling stretches the band and shortens the garment's life. Rubber gloves or a donning aid make it easier. Full instructions are in our guide to putting on compression stockings.

Wash after each wear in cool or lukewarm water with a gentle solution — never fabric softener or bleach — and always air dry away from direct heat, since a machine dryer permanently damages the elastic. With daily wear and proper care, expect roughly three to six months before the compression declines, so most people rotate two pairs. Full instructions and washing solutions are in our care guide.
