Second Skin Anti-Embolism Knee High, Open Toe 18 mmHg — Below-Knee Support in Sizes to 3X-Large

Second Skin Anti-Embolism knee highs deliver 18 mmHg anti-embolism graduated compression from ankle to below the knee, held in place by a soft, non-constricting stay-up top. A soft smooth knit built for continuous wear during recovery. Available in Small to 3X-Large. This sits in the anti-embolism compression class, indicated for reducing thromboembolic risk, recovery at home while reclining or bed-confined, post-surgical recovery at home, periods of reduced mobility.

  • 18 mmHg Anti-Embolism Gradient: Graduated pressure greatest at the ankle, decreasing along the limb.
  • Extended Size Range: Available in Small to 3X-Large, including wide-calf fittings.
  • Fabric: A soft smooth knit built for continuous wear during recovery.
  • Soft Stay-Up Top: A soft, non-constricting stay-up top.
  • Open Toe: Allows easy toe inspection and fits a range of foot lengths.
  • Latex Free: Contains no natural rubber latex.
  • Reduces Thromboembolic Risk: 18 mmHg targeted at the ankle helps counter venous stasis during immobility.
  • Supports Home Convalescence: Designed for the reclining or bed-confined patient recovering at home.
  • Aids Post-Surgical Recovery: Suited to the post-surgical patient during the early recovery period.
  • Maintains Venous Return: Graduated pressure keeps blood moving when the calf muscle pump is inactive.
  • Toe Access: The foot can be checked daily without taking the garment off — useful in diabetic and post-surgical care.
  • Below-Knee Coverage: Pressure is concentrated over the calf and ankle, where lower-limb fluid gathers first.
  • Reducing thromboembolic risk
  • Recovery at home while reclining or bed-confined
  • Post-surgical recovery at home
  • Periods of reduced mobility
  • Swelling that stops below the knee
  • Varicose veins in the calf and ankle

The numbers are the pressure at the ankle in millimetres of mercury, decreasing along the limb. 18 mmHg is the anti-embolism class, indicated for reducing thromboembolic risk, recovery at home while reclining or bed-confined, post-surgical recovery at home, periods of reduced mobility. Our compression therapy guide explains each level.

Yes. This style runs from Small to 3X-Large. Plus sizes are graded on calf circumference rather than clothing size, so measure your ankle and calf first thing in the morning before swelling builds and match those numbers to the chart on this page. Our measuring guide walks through each measurement.

Turn the garment inside out to the heel, work the foot in first, then roll it up the limb in stages rather than pulling from the top, which stretches the band. Rubber gloves or a donning aid make it easier. Full instructions are in our guide to putting on compression stockings.

Wash after each wear in cool or lukewarm water with a gentle solution — never fabric softener or bleach — and air dry away from direct heat. Most people rotate two pairs so a clean, dry pair is always ready. Full instructions and washing solutions are in our care guide.

Fit of compression socks

"They are too tight can’t wear them."

"The fit is good except for the edging near the toes. It is too tight and too bulky."

"Bought wrong size so I am not satisfied with them. Plan to donate them."

Joanna K. (3/5)

Packaging is fine

"Packaging could be sturdier for protection."

Sylvia M. (3/5)

I am so pleased with

"I am so pleased with them that I don't even realize that I have them on! And not until I had mentioned them to my friend that I had lunch with, she said that she didn't even notice. They are the right fit all the way around and my circulation did not get shut off like the others that I purchased, they were 20-30 mmHg Knee High Support Stockings but I do not remember the brand but it definitely wasn't Second Skin. If anyone is needing anti-embolism stockings OPEN TOE and do not need to have a heavier pair, then try Second Skin 18 mmHg with or without the open toe and I promise you that you will not realize they are even on. The price was very affordable for me and I will be purchasing another pair or two in the very near future. Thank you so much for being there at the right time and with the right product and price and I do believe that the Lord has a way of working things out for the good. God Bless and Much Love Markette Bayliss"

Markette B. (5/5)

Good product for the price, works for what I need them to.

"They work for what I need without paying stupid prices at the doctors. My feet wear through them pretty quick so I need to replace them every 5-6 months."

Joshua K. (4/5)

Great Value and Color

"Skin toned I wanted it!"

June L. (5/5)

Fyi;. 25 percent restocking fee if they don't have your size.

"Do not order if you are shorter than 5 ft 5. They do not come in a petite option. They are too long and cause problems around your ankles. They are a good quality but too long for anyone less than 5 ft 7."
